A Community Effort!

Gardens sponsored by Ramsgate Conservancy

After many months of hard work, as the lead tenants, the Ramsgate Lions have secured the old Ramsgate Bowling Club on behalf of the Ramsgate Village community and work has started in earnest to develop it into a vibrant meeting point where locals can take part in all kinds of interesting activities. Officially called the Ramsgate Lions Recreation and Community Centre, it’s quickly becoming known by its nickname ‘The Village Hall’

Once again all the local NGOs have come together to make things happen. This includes the Ramsgate Lions, the Ramsgate Ratepayers and Residents’ Association, the Ramsgate Conservancy, Ramsgate Tourism and the Greenhills Community

Local business, Roodepoort Steel’s Derek Grundlingh and Johan Veldsman have been hard at work to give the old club a much needed facelift.  Printco has supplied fresh new signage, and The Waffle House is giving financial support during the set up phase to make sure the lights keep burning and the water keeps flowing.

The centre is already the new home of the Ugu Knights Chess Club.  If you’re interested in becoming an Ugu Chess fundi, feel free to contact Ronel Muller at info@granitecrazy.co.za

If you’d like to support this amazing community effort, feel free to email Mike Berry at mikedeb@mweb.co.za
