Things to do and see in Ramsgate
A visit to Ramsgate is always a treat. Not only do we have a glorious Blue Flag Beach, but a ton of other activities and venues for you to enjoy. There is so much to do, so many unique places to see that will make your visit truly special and memorable.
Below we have listed an itinerary of sorts to get you going and make sure that you don’t miss out on all the wonderful places that make Ramsgate great.
Start the day with an early morning walk along our Marine Ramble and enjoy the wild flowers, butterflies, birds and perhaps the dassies sunning themselves on the rocks. The Marine Ramble follows the coastline from Ramsgate to Southbroom and offers exquisite views of the ocean and coastal dunes. The path is well marked and follows a well maintained trail along sea-sand, grassy paths and paved walkways. This really is the best way to see the area and enjoy all the little bays and beaches that Ramsgate has to offer.
Sit a while on the decks at the Whale View Enviro Centre with its spectacular view overlooking Ramsgate beach. Take in the beautiful ocean sounds and smell and just maybe, you will see dolphins swimming through the surf and even a whale or two breaching in the distance.
Take some time to enjoy Ramsgate’s famous beach. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the warm Indian Ocean and if by this time you are feeling hungry, go along to one of the many special Restaurants nearby and enjoy a plate of bacon and eggs or something from the Waffle House with your choice of topping.
If spending a lazy day on the beach is not for you or you would like to see more of what Ramsgate has to offer, then explore the little shops at Sebenza Village where you could pick up some delicious fish and chips for lunch.
Head on further south to the Butterfly or Crocodile Farm and enjoy the tours that they have to offer. A quick stop at Pistols Wild West Museum is a definite must for some refreshment with plenty of atmosphere and history.
- Huckelberry the famous donkey.
A Visit to Bellevue Eco Estate is highly recommended. Take a peaceful walk while the kids enjoy the play area, or enjoy a leisurely picnic on the expansive lawn.
For a really unique delight, lose yourself in the world of Lilliputian at Hazel’s World of Miniatures. The exquisite miniatures will have you “oohing” and “aahing” over their precision and attention to detail.
Or pop over and enjoy a coffee at S’khumba Crafts while having a look at all the fantastic wares they have on offer.
A visit to Ramsgate is more than just a trip to the beach. It is an all-encompassing cultural experience that you will remember for years to come. So why not pay us a visit and make some memories this holiday.
